Activities And Events In Oxfordshire 1st-2nd December 2018

It’s a busy weekend full of Christmas events in Oxfordshire this week.  There’s so many festive activities its hard to chose what to do!  Have a great weekend!

Saturday

  • Thomas the Tank Engine will be at Didcot Railway Centre this weekend to meet lots of fans, young and old.  Ride on to Thomas to see Father Christmas in his grotto.  Enjoy unlimited rides all day as well as activities and character meets.  Booking in advance recommended.
  • See the show of Peter Pan live at Cogges Manor Farm in the barn.  Wrap up warm!  Tickets still available for 1pm.  3pm fully booked.
  • Enjoy a Christmas party for all the family at Didcot Civic Hall 2:30-4:30pm.  Fancy dress welcome.  Pirate ship, bouncy castle, face painting, food, party games and more.  £3 per child.  (parents please provide a wrapped gift with child’s name on for Santa to hand out).
  • Free drop-in drawing session at Vale & Downland Museum 10:30-11:30am.  Suitable for all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult).  All materials provided.  Use the museum collection as inspiration for your masterpiece!
  • Abingdon Christmas Extravanganza takes place today from 10am including live music, Punch and Judy shows, crafts and activities, stalls, Santa’s grotto, real donkeys from Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary,  plus a firework show to finish the day off.

Sunday

  • Wallingford Christmas Extravaganza promises music, entertainment, stalls and Santa’s grotto from 12pm in the market place, followed by a grand fireworks finale at 5pm.

Ongoing

  • Illuminated evenings at Fairytale Farm on Saturday and Sunday evenings Saturday 13th October – Sunday 23rd December and Monday 24th December.   £6.25 per person to enjoy the illuminations and either a hot dog or soup with crusty roll plus a drink in the Beanstalk Cafe.
  • Oxfordshire Remembers 1914-1918 exhibition at the Soldiers Of Oxfordshire Museum telling stories from the Great War.  Running until 2nd December 2018.
  • Waddesdon Manor sculpture trail 18th April 2018 – 31st January 2019.  Explore the sculptures around the grounds and learn more about the historic figures and legends.
  • Have fun answering questions along the Family Christmas Quiz Trail at Moors Valley Country Park  1st December 2018 – 6th January 2019.
  • Christmas fair at Waddesdon Manor (free entry for National Trust members) as well as its magical light and sound show.  Unique gifts, festive foods and crafts.  Saturday 10th November – Sunday 16th December 2018.
