Activities & Events In Oxfordshire 12-13th May

There’s definitely lots of fun activities & events in Oxfordshire and beyond this weekend.  There seems to be an emphasis on vehicles this weekend with various rallies and meets taking place.  We are hoping to go along to the Wallingford car rally on Sunday.  Saturday will be spent running round like a headless chicken no doubt at Cody’s 5th birthday party.  16 kids and a bouncy castle.  What could possibly go wrong?!

Whatever you get up to lets hope the weather stays dry for all these lovely outdoor events.  Enjoy!

Saturday

  • Millets Farm Family Dog Show 10am-4:30pm.  FREE  Read more about the event here: Millets Farm Family Dog Show
  • Science of the sky workshop at Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre 12pm, 1:30pm and 3pm.  £2 per person plus museum entry.  Try out experiments that lift, float and fly upwards inspired by Roald Dahl’s books.
  • Land Rover show weekend at British Motor Museum.  Lots of vehicles on display, merchandise stalls, vehicle parts for sale and avrious activities.  On Sunday there is also live music to enjoy.

Sunday

  • Classic Oxfordshire Bike Ride event day starting from and finishing at Diamond Light on the Harwell Campus.  Family friendly route sets off at 10am.  Other routes are 12, 30,60,75 or 100 miles.  All fully marshalled, signposted, first aid, pick up trucks and live music with refreshments at the finish line.  Visit www.bike-events.co.uk for more info.
  • Keepy Uppy football themed theatre family show at Cornerstone Arts Centre Didcot.  Shows at 11:30am and 2:30pm.  Tickets £8, Concs £6, Family £24.
  • Wallingford vehicle rally and parade 10:30-5:30pm  FREE for spectators/visitors.  Bookings for cars to take part are now fully booked.  Parade sets off at 10:30am and will go through Wallingford town centre with some 400 vehicles taking part!

  • Oxford Etsy pop-up market in the Castle Quarter grounds 10am-2pm with over 30 different sellers.

Ongoing Events

  • Children’s Tudor animal trail at The Vyne in Basingstoke.  21st November 2017- 3rd June 2018.  Normal admission fees apply.
  • Barbara Hepworth:Finding Form.  An exhibition of this very talented artist’s sculptures and how they were made as well as a history of her life.  River & Rowing Museum, Henley.  9th February – 3rd June 2018
  • Marvellous machines exhibition at Banbury Museum including quirky gadgets and contraptions.   24th March – 9th June 2018
  • It’s Always Tea Time exhibition at The Story Museum, Oxford walking into the world of Alice In Wonderland.  Follow a picture trail, enjoy a tea party, listen to tales from a giant tea cup and take part in a variety of themed events.  Friday 30th March – Saturday 7th July 2018.
  • Open air sculpture exhibition at Shaw House in Newbury.  The Orangery will be transformed into a sculpture trail and some of the sculptors will be opening their studios for visitors to browse round.  Open every day 11am-4pm on Saturday 12th May – Sunday 3rd June 2018.  The house will also be open at weekends and during half term.  FREE
