Activities & Events In Oxfordshire 23rd-24th June 2018

This weekend’s events in Oxfordshire post is full of more amazing music and food festivals plus some Armed Forces day events too.  We have a BBQ with family planned for Saturday and maybe some geocaching on Sunday.  What do you have planned this weekend?  There’s loads of ideas below if you need some inspiration.  Enjoy!

Saturday

  • Oxford Thai food and culture festival at Botley Park from 10am.  Live performances of traditional Thai dancing, Thai folk songs, Muay Thai boxing and more.  Delicious Thai food, crafts and even a fun fair for the kids.
  • Abingdon Food and Drink Festival at Rye Farm Meadow 10am-6pm.  Cookery demonstrations, food stalls, children’s workshops, live music and more.  £5 per person, under 12s get in free.  Raising money for local charities.
  • Football freestyler at Didcot Orchard Centre 11am-4pm demonstrating tricks, knock-out competition and a chance for the audience to have a go too. FREE 
  • Didcot/Vauxhall Barracks play day at Edmunds Park 11am-3pm.  Go karts, African drumming, Bright Sparks Science, fire play, zorbing, giant bubbles, bouldering wall and more.  FREE entry and all activities free!
  • Blenheim Palace flower show 10am -5pm.  Floral displays, gardening talks from the experts, food and drink plus live entertainment..  Book tickets here: http://www.blenheimflowershow.co.uk/
  • Classic and Sports Car Show at Bicester Heritage.  Cars, bikes, vintage aircraft, military machines and demonstrations.  Vintage village with fairground rides, live music, food and shopping stalls.  Adults £23, Kids £10 (under 5s free).
  • Fun day at Stephen Freeman School in Didcot 11am-4pm raising money for the Freddie Perry Foundation. Rides, stalls, animals, customised cars and bikes and more.
  • Wittfest music festival at The Plough in Long Wittenham 12pm onwards. Live music from local bands, bouncy castle, Peppa Pig, facepainting and more. FREE 
  • Tandem Music Festival at Lower Farm (Ramsden).  Music, art, workshops, film, food, eco-friendly festival.  New children’s activities include storytelling, circus skills, star gazing, art and more.  Find out more here: https://tandemfestival.com
  • Celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival at the Oxfordshire Museum 2-4pm.  Storytelling, dragon dancing, colouring, make your own dragon boat model.
  • Living history weekend at Waddesdon Manor 10am-4pm.  Find out what life was like 100 years ago from the Western front to the Home Front.

Sunday

  • Armed Forces day at Soldiers Of Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock 2-5pm.  Make and take activities, object handling, dress up and more.  Free entry for Armed Forces personnel and their families.

Ongoing Events

  • It’s Always Tea Time exhibition at The Story Museum, Oxford walking into the world of Alice In Wonderland.  Follow a picture trail, enjoy a tea party, listen to tales from a giant tea cup and take part in a variety of themed events.  Friday 30th March – Saturday 7th July 2018.
  • Artists Under Fire exhibition at Banbury Museum.  Prints, drawings and watercolours from the Ashmolean Museum’s collection depicting life on the front line during WWI.  Open daily Mon-Sat 10am-5pm.  Entry £5 for adults, £2 children (under 5s free).  Saturday 23rd June – Monday 27th August 2018.
