Book Review:Elsie’s Rocket To The Moon

We were very excited to receive a new book in the post last week. Elsie’s Rocket To The Moon is written by Helen Bacon.  This is her first self-published book.  Helen also blogs over at

The story follows Elsie who goes to the moon on an adventure in her space rocket. There she meets a friendly alien called Jerome.

One thing I love about this book is that it’s a rhyming book. I just love kids books that rhyme. It makes them so enjoyable to read! Lois really enjoyed reading it aloud to Cody a few nights ago. Cody has also had a go at reading it himself. He particularly likes the launch count down.

The book is a soft back picture book aimed at young readers. It’s full of beautiful illustrations by Zoe McCabe who really brings the story to life.

It’s really nice to see a space book with a female lead character.  Often I find this theme is aimed more at boys.  This book is fab for both boys and girls though.  Even Teddy Bear gets to go on the adventure!  It’s all about bringing a child’s imagination to life and I love it!

We highly recommend this book for your children.  It’s a lovely read and well worth getting.  You can find out more about it and purchase the book over at

Disclaimer:  We were sent a copy of the book free of charge for the purpose of the review, however all words, photos and opinions are that of my own.
