Easter Holiday Events In The South East 2018

The Easter holidays are upon us already!  This term has absolutely flown by hasnt it?!  We are looking forward to having time off to enjoy some family days out and there is certainly no shortage of Easter holiday events and activities over the next two weeks.  Check out the list at the bottom of the page for ongoing events as well as the individual daily events.  You’ll be spoilt for choice!

Friday 30th March

  • Meet Nick Cope at Cogges Farm and join in with some fun performances at 11am and 1pm.  Meet the animals sessions at 11am and 2pm.

Saturday 31st March

  • The Easter Chick will be at the Orchard Centre shopping centre in Didcot 11am-4pm.  FREE
  • Family Running  day and Easter fun at Didcot Railway Centre  10:30-5pm.

Sunday 1st April

  • Meet children’s author Cas Lester for some chocolate themed fun at The Story Museum, Oxford, inspired by her new book Do You Speak Chocolate?
  • Easter chick hunt and free vintage bus rides at the Oxford Bus Museum with bus rides at 12:15pm and 2:45pm around Kidlington Airfield.
  • Family Running  day and Easter fun at Didcot Railway Centre  10:30-5pm.
  • Family friendly Sundays at the Oxford Natural History Museum 2-4pm.  Family friendly backpacks, crafts and trails around the museum.  FREE  WEEKLY EVENT
  • Easter fun at Didcot Fire Station 11am-1pm including an Easter egg hunt and other fun acitivities.  Meet the firefighters and see the fire engines too.

Monday 2nd April

  • Story time at Cogges Farm 10:30am, 11am and 12pm,  fresh hot cross buns being made in the farmhouse kitchen 12-2pm and meet the animals 11am and 2pm.
  • Easter chick hunt and free vintage bus rides at the Oxford Bus Museum with bus rides at 12:15pm and 2:45pm around Kidlington Airfield.

Tuesday 3rd April

  • Pond dipping at Cogges Farm 10am-2pm.

Wednesday 4th April

  • Chocolate egg decorating in the farmhouse kitchen at Cogges Farm 10am-2pm.
  • Family gardening workshop at the Oxford Botanic Garden with a guided tour and hands on activities.  10am and 11:30am.  £10, booking essential at www.scienceoxford.com
  • Join in with craft activities and search for chickens hiding around the Ashmolean Museum.  FREE (donations welcome)

Thursday 5th April

  • Join in with craft activities and search for chickens hiding around the Ashmolean Museum.  FREE (donations welcome)
  • Join author Elys Dolan and Mr Bunny for a storytelling session and hands-on workshop at The Story Museum in Oxford. Tickets £5-£7.  2pm.
  • Learn about the water cycle and how rain clouds are made then use science tricks to create colourful spring flowers and butterflies at The Old Museum (Oxford Museum).  Age 4-9 years.  £7 pre book at www.scienceoxford.com
  • Farmyard junkyard craft session at Cogges Farm 10am-2pm

  • Be a zoologist for the day at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre.  Enjoy pond dipping, bird watching, sweep netting in the meadow and dissect owl poo.  Age 7+ £10 per child (adults free, children must be accompanied.  No under 7s).  Book in advance
  • Make your own clay gremlin at the Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre.   £3 plus museum entry fee.
  • Create your own inventors goggles out of household junk at the Banbury Museum.  10:30-12 and 2-4pm.  £4 per child

Friday 6th April

  • Tractor Ted bouncy castle at Farmer Gows plus bottle feed the baby lambs, meet the piglets and chicks, plus more farmyard activities.  Adults £9, Children £8.
  • Woodland Club messy mud kitchen at Cogges Farm 10am-2pm
  • Kids club Easter hunt at the Soldiers Of Oxfordshire Museum with a war time twist!  10am-12:30pm age 6-9 years (no parents!).  £8 per child.

  • Planets and stars family science day at the Cornerstone Arts Centre, Didcot.  Explore light with astronomers, engineers and scientists from the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory.  Hands on activities, demonstrations and workshops taking place throughout the day.  FREE
  • Become a wildlife secret agent at Sutton Courtenay Environmental Education Centre.  Test yourself across a series of challenges and see if you’ve got what it takes to complete them all and receive your special agent medal.  £4 per child.  Adults free.  Booking essential.

Wednesday 11th April

  • The Nose That Nobody Picked theatre workshop day and show at Cornerstone Arts Centre, Didcot.  Children will get to meet the author and learn how to write poems and songs.  After the workshop children will be accompanied into the theatre with the teachers to watch the show.  Book in advance.

  • An afternoon of fun and fable at Blackwells in the Westgate Shopping Centre Oxford.   Story time, dance with the Chinese dragon, music, crafts and learn to write your animal name in Chinese.  2-4pm.  FREE 

Sunday 15th April

  • Easter weekend at Fairytale Farm.  Come and visit the Easter Bunny in his giant burrow, take part in an Easter egg hunt and more. £3.50 per child plus normal admission fee (each child receives a full size Easter egg). 30th March – 2nd April 2018

  • Benson village Easter bunny trail 30th March – 15th April 2018.  Follow the trail to find 8 secret bunny homes hidden around the village.  Inside each bunny house will be a puzzle for you to solve.  Pick up a trail sheet for £1 per person from the Chilton Produce store (mon-sat) or Co-Op (Sundays only).  Proceeds to Benson School.
