House of Fun

House Of fun Summer 2019

House of Fun is a great holiday camp for kids aged 5-12 years. Previously based at Thomas Reade Primary School in Abingdon, it has now moved to a new premises at St Ebbe’s Primary School in Oxford.

The camp is ran by Jake Motion and his brilliant team of staff who are made up of school teachers, forest school leaders, FA football coach, etc. They all put their natural talents in to the activities including arts and crafts, sports, cooking and more.

We were lucky enough that in October half term 2018 Lois and Cody got to spend a day at House of Fun to try it out. I have to admit I was a little nervous as they’ve never been to a holiday camp before. I was so impressed with it though and the kids absolutely loved it. In fact they have nagged and nagged me about going again so they were super excited to be visiting the new premises this summer! You can read our review of their October visit here:

Their summer 2019 visit landed on the hottest day of the year but they still had an amazing time. The day started off with an hour of sports before it got too hot. They then enjoyed making cinnamon and raisin bread in the cookery class, clay and hamma beads in the arts and crafts classes, plus they had a movie afternoon.

They ate their lunch outside under the trees then played water games on the sports field. I picked them up exhausted but happy.

One of the highlights of their visit this summer was meeting the new 4 legged member of staff – a Canine Concern Certified dog called Lulu. She belongs to Jax who does the cookery lessons and is a pug. When she isn’t at House Of Fun she visits care homes for the elderly and university students.
