Over the weekend we were very privileged to be invited to see a performance of The Pirate Cruncher on stage at Cornerstone Arts Centre (Didcot). The show is presented by Goat And Monkey and is currently on it’s 2019 UK tour. We were very lucky to have it visit our home town!
The show is an adaption from the much loved and best-selling story book by Jonny Duddle. It also features music by multi award winning folk musician Jon Boden. The Pirate Cruncher is a rollicking adventure told through thrilling action and daft nonsense. It stars Emily, a 9 year old girl who is taken by Pirate Pepperbeard and his pirates on a quest to find a non-existent treasure island. She must find a way to somehow escape or defeat them before they realise the treasure isn’t real!
The show is full of humour and lots of opportunities for the audience to get involved. Many children went dressed as pirates and pirate hats were handed out for the audience to wear during the show. It was great fun!
The show is recommended for children aged 4+ (although we took baby with us and he was fine). It is approximately 1.5 hours long with an interval half way through. We highly recommend it for any pirate lovers and those who enjoy plenty of audience participation.
