Whats On Weekend 17th-18th March South East

I think its safe to say that this weekend really marks the start of lots of lovely Spring events and activities.  There are lambing events popping up everywhere and lots of seasonal fun to be had.  Check out whats on weekend 17th-18th March in the South East of England below:

Saturday

  • Lambing weekend at the Earth Trust, Little Wittenham 10am-4pm.  Meet newborn lambs, piglets and goats.  Also bale climbing, tractor trailer rides and children’s activities.  £22 for a family ticket on the gate.  (£8 adults, £5 child).
  • Tractor trailer rides at Millets Farm 10am-4pm.  £1 per person.  Rides lasts approximately 20 minutes and departs from the bus stop by the covered walkway.
  • Guardians Of The Galaxy movie will be showing in the planetarium cinema at Winchester Science Centre .  Film starts at 5:20pm.  Tickets cost £5 per person.  Please note, the science centre itself will be closed from 5pm.
  • Open weekend at Cogges Manor Farm.  Enjoy cooking in the Manor House kitchen (with a special treat for St Patricks Day!), feed the animals at 11am and 2pm, plus meet the walled garden volunteers between 10am-12pm.  House tours will be held at 11am and 1pm.
  • Story Makers family day and exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford 12-4pm.  FREE

Sunday

  • Thomas steam day at Didcot Railway Centre 10am-5pm.  Meet Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends and enjoy rides with them throughout the day up and down the line.  Booking in advance strongly advised.
  • Family friendly Sundays at the Oxford Natural History Museum 2-4pm.  Family friendly backpacks, crafts and trails around the museum.  FREE

  • Wall-E movie will be showing in the planetarium cinema at Winchester Science Centre.  Film starts at 9am.  Tickets cost £5 or £2 plus normal entry if you wish to visit the science centre afterwards.
  • Open weekend at Cogges Manor Farm.  Enjoy cooking in the Manor House kitchen, feed the animals at 11am and 2pm, plus meet members of the Oxford Sandy and Black group who will tell you more about the farms 4 lovable resident pigs.  House tours will be held at 11am and 1pm.
  • Make your own crodswolloping creature in the junkyard modelling session at Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre .  Sessions are at 12pm, 1:30pm and 3pm and cost £3 per person plu normal admission.
  • Combe Mill open day 10am – 5pm.  See the working watermill and dual blacksmiths forge.  Have a go at making things and see how machinery works.  Millie the Mill Cat trail for children to have a go at.  Adults £7.50, children £6 (under 5s free). CANCELLED

  • Billy and The Minpins exhibition at the Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre. 7th September 2017- 15th April 2018
  • Vintage Star Wars toys and cinema posters exhibition at the Willis Museum and Sainsbury Gallery in Basingstoke.  13th January – 14th April 10am-4pm. FREE
  • Children’s Tudor animal trail at The Vyne in Basingstoke.  21st November 2017- 3rd June 2018.  Normal admission fees apply.
  • Barbara Hepworth:Finding Form.  An exhibition of this very talented artist’s sculptures and how they were made as well as a history of her life.  River & Rowing Museum, Henley.  9th February – 3rd June 2018
