Finding Their Way Home Book Review

Last week we received a lovely book in the post called Finding Their Way Home by Nicky Copeland. This is the first in a series of books about her adopted cats Cleo and Baloo.

The book is informative as well as an enjoyable story for kids. It teaches how to introduce new pets to each other. I love that it’s written from the cat’s point of view.  It’s an unusual way to write a story and I really like it.

The illustrations are so lovely. They are colourful and I love the style of drawing. They really capture the cat’s expressions and personalities. The pictures break up the writing well and make it an easy read for youngsters to have a go at themselves.

My children both enjoyed reading this book. Lois is a true animal lover so she found it particularly interesting. It sparked lots of questions based around pet ownership and really got her thinking.  There is some useful information at the back of the book with practical tips on how to introduce a new pet in to the home. This would be a great book for children as well as being informative for grown ups. We look forward to reading the next one in the series!

Finding their way home by Nicky Copeland is an adorable book. My son was age 4 when we got a cat and I was lucky when the transition into the house went smoothly. I like the idea of children learning about pet ownership from this book. I also like that the book contains tips for introducing a pet into the home.
