The Cider Pantry is a fantastic tea room situated in the picturesque village of Burley in the New Forest. This is our second visit here. We stumbled upon it a couple of years ago while camping in the area. As we are staying close by in New Milton at the moment we knew we had to make a return visit. It’ a must!
In 1987 Barry and Sue first decided to set up the New Forest Cider company. It has since grown and now employs their children too making it a real family business. There is now an on-site shop as well as the pantry tea room.
The pantry menu offers a delicious selection of homemade food from locally sourced produce. There are always seasonal specials available. These change regularly and keep the menu fresh and interesting. As well as sandwiches, baguettes and ploughmans lunches there are some other meals available too. On our visit today all 3 kids chose the macaroni cheese. I opted for the burger special which was pork and chorizo. Danny had the ham and 2 cheese ploughmans. All our meals were absolutely gorgeous. The burger was one of the best I’ve ever had and the hand cut chips were just as good. We always say my Nan makes the best macaroni cheese but this one was a very close match. Certainly the closest we’e ever found!
After such lovely meals we just couldn’ say no to pudding. The kids all chose an ice cream each (chocolate, coconut and honeycomb). Danny and I shared a cream tea. The scones were so fresh they were still warm and so fluffy!
Following our meal we had a look around the Cider shop. You can purchase all the New Forest Cider produce here as well as some other local produce too. Speak nicely to the lady in the shop and you may be able to try a sample or two as well!
If you want a delicious, excellent quality lunch made of local produce then this is definitely the place to go. Children and welly boots always welcome. Dogs are also welcome to join you in the lovely garden where there is plenty of seating to enjoy your meal.
