Time to read with book trust bundle

Time To Read With Book Trust

We have been very fortunate to receive a beautiful set of books from Book Trust this week as part of their nationwide campaign ‘Time To Read’.  The campaign is aimed at getting families to enjoy reading together and sharing picture books.

Did you know that research has proven that children who  read regularly do better in school?  Reading books helps children learn spellings, how to form a sentence, understand the world and become creative and imaginative.  When reading together books bring you closer together and help you bond while having fun too!

This year as part of the Time To Read campaign, every child in Reception year at school across England will receive a copy of ‘Little Monkey’ by Marta Altes.  It’s a very cute story about a little monkey’s adventure in the jungle.  Cody and I really enjoyed reading it together and talking about what we thought might happen next.  The illustrations really bring the story to life and have some lovely details to spot.

There are 3 other gorgeous books in our bundle.  My favourite is ‘Vera Jewel Is Late For School’ because I absolutely love rhyming books and the pictures in this one are such fun.  Cody thinks ‘You’re Called What?!’ is hilarious so that’s definitely his favourite.  The other book is called ‘I Am An Artist’ and is one I think all parents could relate to – you have to read it to find out why!

To be in with a chance of winning your very own bundle of 4 Macmillan Picture books from Book Trust (as pictured above) click on the ‘enter the giveaway’ box below and tell us the name of your favourite children’s book in the comments.  Competition closes at midnight on Sunday 23rd September 2018 and the winner will be announced on Monday 24th September.

When I was young my favourite books were Enid Blytons The Faraway tree! Hoping to read these with my little boy one day 😊

My daughter & I both love reading the Winnie & Wilbur books. They are so engaging for younger readers, and the illustrations are fabulously detailed.

I love so many children’s books but my favourite (and my son’s) for the past 2 years has been “The Bear Cub Bakers” by Caroline Baxter. It is cheerful, beautifully illustrated and has lovely rhyming bits throughout that make reading out loud a joy.

My favourite children’s book is “The Tiger Who Came To Tea.” Very old fashioned but just beautiful! We also love the “Alfie and Annie Rose” books by Shirley Hughes…also beautiful!
