What’s On In Oxfordshire 4th-6th May 2019

So our due date weekend is upon us, May 4th.  It’s also internationally known as Star Wars Day.  Yep, we couldn’t have planned that better if we tried!  It also happens to be a bank holiday weekend, woohoo!  So while we concentrate on getting this baby born here’s what else is happening this weekend across Oxfordshire and beyond. 

Saturday 4th May

  • Science Saturdays at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History 12-4pm.  Meet real scientists and have a look at historic fossils from the museum’s collection.  Free drop in
  • Star Wars day celebrations will be taking place at Toy Planet in Wantage where you can meet Darth Vader and his storm troopers 10am-3pm.  You can also receive a free comic just for popping in!
  • The Marlborough (Didcot) open day 12-5pm.  Bouncy castles, local businesses, stalls, etc.

Sunday 5th May

  • Family Friendly Sundays at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History 2-4pm.  Trails, crafts and backpacks with the museum volunteers.  Free drop in.
  • May Day merriment at Chiltern Open Air Museum 10am-5pm.  Elizabethan living history re-enactors, music, dancing, food and various crafts people.  Standard entry fee applies (free for annual pass holders).
  • Abingdon Air & Country Show.  WW1 & WW2 re-enactors, falconry, motorcycle display team, military vehicles, wide variety of airplanes in both flying and static display, dog agility team, morris dancers, farm animals and lots more.   Tickets can be purchased on the gate.
  • Thame Country Fair 10am-6pm.  Country sports arena, workshops, demonstrations, craft village with live glassblowing and blacksmiths, food show and more.

Monday 6th May

  • May Day merriment at Chiltern Open Air Museum 10am-5pm.  Elizabethan living history re-enactors, music, dancing, food and various crafts people.  Standard entry fee applies (free for annual pass holders).
  • Hagbourne Fun Run 9am.  4.5 mile family friendly fun run and walk.  Refreshments and prize giving afterwards.
  • Thame Country Fair 10am-6pm.  Country sports arena, workshops, demonstrations, craft village with live glassblowing and blacksmiths, food show and more.
  • Cogges Spring Craft Market 10am-4pm.  Over 30 different crafts and artists selling goods as well as giving demonstrations.  You can read our review of Cogges here: http://mumof2point5.com/daysout/south-east/cogges-manor-farm/

Ongoing Events

  • Blenheim Palace Medieval Jousting weekend.  Daily 4th-6th May.  Jousting on horseback, battles on foot, birds of prey, children’s archery range, jesters, dragons and more.  Free for annual pass members (upgrade to an annual pass for free).

  • Unicorn weekend at Finkley Down Farm 4th-6th May including meet the unicorns, giant bubble fun, unicorn trail and disco.
